You Don't See This Everyday

Last night coming home from a hockey game with a friend, we ended up running into a bunch of police barricades that were setup on the main roads home. As such we took a little detour until we ran smack dap into the middle of a massive moving operation that the police were helping out with.

What they were assisting to move was an oilfield Coker that was so massive it was at least 100 meters long and 20 meters in diameter. The sheer size of this item meant that it had to take a specific route through the city, no underpasses (since it was too big to fit) and the City Power company was actually dismantling lights, power lines and other things that crossed its path on the main road (another reason why the cops were there). This thing was so big, they had something like 3 or 4 massive moving flatbeds either hauling or helping to push this beast through the city. And I mean push, you could get out and walk faster than this thing was travelling.

Sadly I did not have my camera with me, but here is an image I found on the manufacturers website that shows an example of one of these massive beasts in all its glory (sadly this one is actually smaller).

I think you get the idea though that this was truely a sight to see and coming from such a random occurance was pretty dammed cool.

Here is a link to the newspaper article if you are curious, sadly they didn't bother to include a picture in the online article either.
