There
is nothing quite like finishing a major animation in a rush,
and this project was a real doozy.
Enhanced
energy needed a promotional video to show at the 2000 World
Petroleum Congress that was in Calgary Alberta, but the
problem was that the tradeshow was less than a week away!
We had
to really haul ass to get the project done, and thus the
project was broken down into three areas, 3D, 2D, and Video
Editing, I was responsible entirely for the 3D.
I had
roughly 3 days to completely model (using surface tools),
texture, and animate the entire 5 minute video, and I had
to do this while the 2D artist did all of his animations
in After Effects using work that I was to produce. Through
some excellent planning and orgaization and with the assistance
of some very talented coworkers (Clayton Stachniak and Penny
Carlson), we managed to complete the animation in time for
the opening of the tradeshow.
3DS Max
R3.1 and Adobe Photoshop were used for the 3D portions of
the animation.
